Obtained Master Degree of Arts in Economics and LL.B. from Calcutta University. Called to the Bar from the Hon’ble Society of Inner Temple on 16th June 1959.
Enrolled as an Advocate of Calcutta High Court in June 1960. Lecturer of Calcutta University Law College from 1961 to 1970. Practiced on the original sides of the Calcutta High Court in Civil Company, Commercial and Tax matters. Was Senior Standing counsel for Union of India in Revenue matters.
Became Judge of Calcutta High Court in 1981. Elevated to the Bench of the Supreme Court in June 1994. Appointed as Chairman, Authority for Advance Rulings and thereafter as President of National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. Joined as Chairperson, Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal on 29th May 2000 and retired on 20th December 2002.

Obtained B.Sc. degree from university of Allahabad in the year 1955 and did his LL.B. from Delhi University with proficiency in ‘Tax Laws’, Administrative Law, and ‘Labour Laws’. Enrolled as Pleader in 1958 and then as an Advocate in 1960. Practiced in District Courts at Delhi as well as in the Circuit Bench of the Punjab High Court at Delhi. Appointed prosecution counsel for the Central Board of Direct Taxes in 1971. Appointed 1st Central Government Standing Counsel in Delhi High Court in 1980. Elevated to the Delhi High court in 1983. Appointed as Chief Justice of Patna High Court in 1995 and was elevated as Judge of the Supreme Court of India in 1997. Retired from Supreme Court in 2000.
Appointed as President, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in March 2001. Took additional charge of the post of Chairperson, Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal on 1st January 2003. Presently, holding charge of the post of Chairperson, Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal.

Born in 1940. Did most of his school education from St. Alyosius High School, Mangalore and completed S.S.L.C. from Madras Christian College School, Madras in 1956. After completing Intermediate from St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore and B.Sc. from Central College, Bangalore, obtained B.L. Degree from Government Law College, Bangalore. Represented University of Mysore and State of Mysore in hockey. After apprenticeship, enrolled as an Advocate in January, 1966. Worked in the Chambers of Justice K. Jagannatha Shetty, who later retired as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India. Was appointed as Advocate-General for the State of Karnataka in February, 1984 and held that post till August, 1988. Was designated as a Senior Advocate in May, 1984. Appointed as the Additional Solicitor General of India in November, 1989 and held that post till December, 1990. Appointed as Solicitor General of India in April, 1998 and during that tenure was elevated in January, 1999 as Judge of the Supreme Court of India. Retired as Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 16.06.2005. Appointed as Chairperson, Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal on 27.06.2005.

Arun Kumar, B.Com. (Hons.), B.C.L., LL.M.(Delhi) and LL.M. Yale, USA – was born on April 12, 1941. He was enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Delhi on July 15, 1964. Worked as Lecturer in Law at University of Delhi in 1965-66 and started practice in the Delhi High Court from 1967. Elected as President of the HIGH COURT BAR ASSOCIATION during 1988-89 and was appointed as a permanent Judge in the Delhi High Court on July 13, 1990. He was appointed as Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court on December 2, 2001. Appointed as Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 3.10.2002 and retired on 12.4.2006 (F.N.). Appointed as Chairperson, Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal on 06.09.2006 Demitted office on 05.09.2009 .
